  14.   Thank you for purchasing your EtherPCI LAN Card II from Linksys.  The 
  15.   instructions below explain how to set up the card's software drivers 
  16.   for use with your network software.
  17.   
  18.   Be sure to read the User Guide before installing your card.  In addition,
  19.   please make note of these hardware & software guidelines:
  20.   
  21.     *   When loading the EMM386.EXE program in your computer's CONFIG.SYS, 
  22.         you MUST use version MS-DOS 6.22 or above.  If you load an older 
  23.         EMM386.EXE program (below DOS 6.22), your computer will hang up while 
  24.         loading the network driver. 
  25.  
  26.     *   Plug-and-play computers have a number of expansion slots inside.
  27.         Each slot has a pre-assigned interrupt (IRQ) and I/O address (MEM). 
  28.         When the Linksys LAN Card is inserted into a PCI slot, the PC's 
  29.         BIOS should automatically assign a unique IRQ & MEM value for the 
  30.         network card. 
  31.  
  32.         In most cases, the card should work fine using the pre- 
  33.         assigned IRQ and I/O addresses.  Occasionally, however, the 
  34.         card may have an IRQ conflict with other adapters in the system. 
  35.         If this happens, you will need to change the IRQ setting of the 
  36.         LAN Card manually.  There are three possibilities: 
  37.  
  38.                 - Your PCI may not allow you to change the IRQ value(s) of 
  39.                   the PCI slot(s).  In this case, you will ONLY be able to 
  40.                   use the IRQ & MEM values that have been pre-assigned to 
  41.                   each slot. 
  42.  
  43.                 - You may be able to change the IRQ & MEM values for a given 
  44.                   PCI slot by setting jumpers on your PC's mother board. 
  45.                   Please refer to your PC's motherboard user guide for 
  46.                   specific instructions. 
  47.  
  48.                 - Your PC may allow you to change the IRQ & MEM values for 
  49.                   a given PCI slot by accessing the PC's BIOS setup menu. 
  50.                   Please refer to your PC's user guide for specific details. 
  51.  
  52.                   Although it is advisable to set a unique IRQ address for 
  53.                   each PCI slot, depending on your PC, you may or may not 
  54.                   be able to do so.

  56.   Setup 
  57.   ----------------------------------------------------------------- 
  58.   1. Start up your computer.
  59.   2. Start up Windows 3.11.  If it doesn't start by itself, type WIN
  60.      at the DOS command prompt.
  61.   3. Click the 'Network' Iron in the Main Program Group.
  62.   4. Click the 'Network Setup' Iron from the Network Window.
  63.   5. Click the 'Drivers' button from the 'Network Setup' Dialog Box.
  64.   6. Click the 'Add Adapters' button from the 'Option' Dialog Box.
  65.   7. When the install driver field appears, select 'Unlisted or Updated
  66.      Network Adapter' item.
  67.   8. Type the path name that contains LNEPCI2.386 and OEMSETUP.INF files.
  68.   9. Press <Enter> to start the installation processes.
  69.  10. When 'Linksys LNEPCI II PCI Ethernet Adapter' Dialog Box appears, press
  70.         <Enter>.

  72.  11. If you want to enable the early interrupt function, click the 'Setup'
  73.         button from the 'Linksys LNEPCI II PCI Ethernet Adapter' Dialog Box.
  74.         Select the 'Early Interrupt Function' item.
  75.         Select 'disable' or 'enable'.
  76.         Click the 'Set' button.

  78.  12. If more than one LNEPCI II card is installed on your computer, you can
  79.         select a specified LNEPCI II card by inputing an Ethernet ID.
  80.         Click the 'Setup' button from the 'Linksys LNEPCI II PCI Ethernet
  81.         Adapter'Dialog Box.
  82.         Select the 'Selected adapter's ID[if multi-card used]' item.
  83.         Key in Ethernet ID.
  84.         Click the 'Setup' button.

  86.  13. Follow the screen instructions to complete the installation process.

  88.  14. Restart your computer. The installation is complete.

  127.    To access the Linksys Bulletin Board System (BBS), set your modem to
  128.    8 bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, and call (714) 261-2888.  Use a speed 
  129.    setting of 33.6bps or slower.  When downloading files, use the "Z-modem" 
  130.    download protocol for best results.
